SHADY SIDE, MD - A Shady Side crash recently killed a 54-year-old man from Baltimore, police said.

Officers said the victim, front-seat passenger Thomas Dudley Mollar, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities said the driver and the 3-year-old boy in the back seat were not hurt.

Police said the toddler was taken to Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C. as a precaution.

Officers said the single-car crash happened Jan. 13 around 9:13 a.m.

A 2017 Nissan Rogue SUV was heading south on Shady Side Road approaching Halie Parkway, authorities said.

Police said the driver failed to negotiate the curve, left the roadway and hit a utility pole.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still investigating.
