ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD - Anne Arundel County's Always Ice Cream Company on Wednesday announced plans to open its fifth shop. Its newest creamery will be located in Baltimore.
The existing locations are:
Always Ice Cream Company was co-founded by brothers Mark and Adam Cohen.
Their latest location is set to open in spring 2024 in The Village of Cross Keys. That's located between Interstate 83 and Falls Road near Roland Park.
“Our goal is for every bite to deliver a unique and exceptional flavor experience,” Mark Cohen said in a press release. “Whether it’s the tang of our key lime pie ice cream, the sweetness of our strawberry ice cream, or one of our other flavors, the taste is the same each and every time.”
Always Ice Cream Company said it was "voted Best of Annapolis and Central Maryland for Ice Cream, Frozen Treats, Dessert, Place to Take Out-of-Towners, and Place to Take Your Kids."
All of the shop's ice cream is homemade with minimal preservatives, added sugar and artificial flavors.
The rotating menu features flavors like Blue Angel, Cookie Monster and Penguin Tracks. There are vegan and dairy-free options like matcha and peanut butter Oreo. Ice cream cakes, nutty buddies and soft-serve are also on tap.
“Our renowned homemade apple pie ice cream integrates a complete, freshly baked apple pie,” Adam Cohen said in the release. “This is just one of many recipes which have evolved over the past 20 years to create treats for your taste buds. If you can’t wait until the spring, visit our website for a complete list of restaurants and grocery stores where our ice cream is sold.”
The new location will span 1,135 square feet in a brand-new jewel box building being constructed in the shopping center.
Cross Keys was developed in 1965 by Jim Rouse, founder of The Rouse Company. Baltimore-based Caves Valley Partners bought the property in 2020.
The shopping center is now undergoing a comprehensive redevelopment. The Village Square was just renovated and two new restaurant pads are slated to finish construction next year.
The finished development will feature nearly 350 new apartments, extra retail spaces and additional office buildings.
“Landing a top notch, creative ice cream concept has been one of the goals for Cross Keys since we undertook the redevelopment effort,” stated Arsh Mirmiran, the partner at Caves Valley Partners leading the development of Cross Keys. “We are very pleased to have connected with the Cohen brothers at Always Ice Cream Company. They run an impressive operation, and the passion of the family and the employees for the brand and product is special.”
