ANNAPOLIS, MD - Broadneck High School field hockey beat Crofton High School 3-2 to win the county championship on Saturday, The Baltimore Sun reported.
Broadneck is now 13-1 and ranked No. 17 in the country by MAX Field Hockey, The Sun said. Crofton is now 10-2 with both losses coming to Broadneck. The Bruins and Cardinals could meet again late in the state playoffs.
"We will see them again," Broadneck senior Mady Quigley told The Sun. "We just have to play as a team and trust each other, no matter what. We just need to keep playing."
The game was part of the first-ever County Championship Showcase, where Annapolis High School facilities hosted 12 title matches in one day.
"Many thanks to the hundreds of #AACPSAwesome team members who came together Saturday to put on the County Championship Showcase at Annapolis High School," Anne Arundel County Public Schools said on Facebook. "It was a day of incredible competition by our student-athletes and opportunities for fans to watch multiple events! THANK YOU ALL!"
