WEST RIVER, MD - An HVAC technician recently won a $100,000 jackpot on a scratch-off in West River. The prize will help the 68-year-old Anne Arundel County resident retire comfortably.

The anonymous player buys instant tickets daily. His big win came on a $10 Ultimate Cash scratch-off purchased at Highs #017, located at 4700 Muddy Creek Road.

The man bought one ticket, realized he won $15 and felt an unfamiliar calling to buy one more scratch-off.

"Something told me to go back in and get one more Ultimate Cash ticket," he said in a Sept. 10 press release. "It had never happened before, that feeling. I was about to pull out of the parking spot but just sat there. That's how strong the feeling was."

The victor couldn't believe that the second ticket won him $100,000.

"It had to be fake, I thought," he said. "Whatever financial worries I had about retirement were just about gone when I realized how much I'd won. It's a good feeling."

The Ultimate Cash game debuted in June with eight top prizes of $100,000 each. There are now seven jackpots remaining along with seven of the 10 original $50,000 second-tier prizes and 34 of the original 58 $10,000 prizes.

High's will get a $1,000 bonus for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
