EDGEWATER, MD - Crave Bakery & Cafe is opening next week in Edgewater.

The bakery will cater events. It will also sell bread and sweets at its shop, located in the Mayo Center.

The journey started when owner Kevin Devine found his great-grandfather’s Pennsylvania Dutch baking recipes from the 1930s. Devine, already a chef and a caterer in the District of Columbia, started baking using those recipes in 2020 during the pandemic.

Business grew, and What’s Up? West County named Devine the best catering chef in 2021.

“Crave's first bakery is opening in Edgewater, Maryland offering breads, sweet treats, prepared foods and more in an old world style,” the business’s website said. “We are offering a selection of handmade bread loaves and baked goods, most with a 100 year history, and a family legacy carrying on for another generation.”

Crave will hold its soft opening on Sept. 21 at 7 a.m. The grand opening is on Sept. 23 at the same time. The business announced the opening dates on Tuesday.

The bakery will be located at 827 Mayo Road No. 10. That’s next to Panda Noodle & Crab House. It’s across the street from the American Legion.

Customers can learn more by visiting Crave’s website, following the bakery on Facebook or emailing info@cravecateringco.com.
