Edgewater veterinarians hope to tackle pet obesity using popular TV show techniques.
Obesity: it's not just for humans anymore. Neither is diabetes, back problems, or pancreatitis. In fact, these health problems are on the rise in dogs and cats in the Edgewater area, which is exactly why the team at the Greater South River Animal Hospital has decided to do something about it. Starting in January, the veterinary practice will host a "Biggest Loser" contest, modeled after the popular NBC weight-loss television show. Pets will be given a consultation upon registering in the program, where the staff will develop an eating and exercise plan tailored to the animal's specific needs—no weight management drugs will be given during this program.
