The Blessing of the Bikes was held at Stan and Joe’s on Sunday afternoon.
Motorcycle enthusiasts gathered at Stan and Joe’s in Edgewater on Sunday for a Blessing of the Bikes. They also raised money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Joe McGovern, co-owner of Stan & Joe’s, said the event was a success. The annual event is done with a local chapter of Hogs for Heroes, an organization of motorcycle riders that is committed to supporting public safety officials, the U.S. Military and Wounded Warriors. McGovern shared a video of the event with Patch. In the video, he summed up the blessing of the bikes in simple words: “God bless you. God bless America. And God bless Stan and Joe's,” McGovern said. The second annual event raises money for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Approximately 200 bikers will flock to Stan and Joe’s Saloon on Sunday for the second annual Blessing of the Bikes. The event is done with a local chapter of Hogs for Heroes and will raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Hogs for Heroes is a national organization of motorcycle riders that is committed to supporting public safety officials, the U.S. Military and Wounded Warriors. Doyle's first night of margarita making at Stan and Joe's in Edgewater will be Wednesday.
Edgewater's favorite bartender has found a new home. The man known as Bartender Doyle will now be serving up his famous margaritas at Stan and Joe's Saloon in Edgewater. Doyle said his first night at Stan and Joe's will be on Wednesday—he will be starting at 5 p.m. "I'm only working on Wednesday and Saturday nights to start and will kick it up next month," Doyle said. "Happy hour is until 7 p.m. and, for the first time in history, you can get my margarita (as well as my other concoctions) half price during that time. Stan and Joe’s Saloon in Edgewater is hosting a special NFL season kick-off celebration on Sunday as the local watering hole becomes an official Redskins bar. Accompanied by Redskins cheerleaders, the establishment will officially be declared as a Redskins bar, recognized by the team and its affiliates. Stan and Joe's will host a local fundraiser on Tuesday, benefitting fallen firefighters and Marines.
Stan and Joe’s Saloon in Edgewater is no stranger to the motorcycle crowd. Back in April, dozens of Hogs for Heroes riders cruised to the local saloon for a special blessing from a priest. On Tuesday, more motorcyclists could be on their way to Edgewater for a special fundraiser to benefit The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Hogs for Heroes’ Maryland Chapter 5 group is presenting “Bike Night” at Stan and Joe's. During the fundraiser, raffles will be sold for two limited edition orange “chopper” motorcycles, whose winners will be announced in October. The event also benefits The Semper Fi Fund and features live music by DJ Tim O’Neal. Tickets are $20 each and only 5,000 raffles are available for …
