Edgewater Sport Clips Raising Funds for 'Operation Uplink'
Local business owner Mike Hassett said he hopes the effort can help soldiers abroad, as well as military families here in Edgewater and south county.
Veterans Day isn’t until Sunday, but the Sport Clips in Edgewater has been honoring the men and women of the armed services all week as part of their annual “Help A Hero” fundraising campaign. In partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VRW) Operation Uplink—a program that helps soldiers abroad connect with family through paid-for international audio and visual communication—the local sports-themed salon has been raising money to help with the effort. Throughout this week, the local Sport Clips has donated $1 from every haircut to help soldiers connect with families while serving oversees.
