South River Volleyball Club Plays in Capitol Hill Classic

The club sent four teams to the weekend-long event in Washington, DC.

Players from the South River Volleyball Club were among the hundreds who took part in the Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic over the weekend.  The club sent four teams to the three-day tournament held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The event featured hundreds of players, all girls between the ages of 12 and 17. Top performers included the Storm 14U team, which finished in the top ten out of 73 teams in its division.  Here's a look at the results of all the SRVC teams:

Local Volleyball Teams Win Gold, Silver in Tournament

Two teams from South River Volleyball Club won gold and silver medals at a tournament on Jan. 27.

Two local volleyball teams from the South River Volleyball Club won gold and silver medals at a volleyball tournament on Jan. 27. The 14U Storm placed second in the MD Juniors 14’s Open Tournament, which is the more competitive pool in the contest. The 14U Surge placed first in MD Juniors 14’s Club Tournament. Trish Sorrells, a parent and photographer for the team, said both Storm and Surge hosted tryouts in mid-November and didn't really start practicing together until December, which makes their success even more exciting.  In the tournament, which was held at the Maryland Juniors Sportsplex in Jessup, the teams played three games before being ranked for pool play in the tournament. Both teams made it to finals in their respective pools…
