Rude Ranch Pet of the Week

Rude Ranch Pet of the Week: Patches

A look at pets up for adoption at Rude Ranch Animal Rescue.

The following was submitted to Patch from Rude Ranch Animal Rescue. If you are interested in adopting one of Rude Ranch's pets, please visit them at 3200 Ivy Way in Harwood. Hi! I'm Patches! I hope you will give an older girl a chance. I came to Rude Ranch several years ago—I was a homeless mom with four kittens at another shelter. There were a lot of other homeless moms and kittens at that shelter and soon our time was up. Luckily, Rude Ranch agreed to let us come here. My kittens quickly found homes and I retired from being a mom. I soon discovered how much fun it was to play with feather toys and laser pointers. When people came to adopt, I was always too busy playing to pay any attention to them.  Now I'm a little older and found I do …

Rude Ranch Pet of the Week

Rude Ranch Pet of the Week: Garth

A look at pets up for adoption at Rude Ranch Animal Rescue.

The following was submitted to Patch from Rude Ranch Animal Rescue. If you are interested in adopting one of Rude Ranch's pets, please visit them at 3200 Ivy Way in Harwood. This is Garth! (Yes he was named after that country guy!) Garth holds several records here at Rude Ranch. He is the biggest guy here, (19.5 pounds—all muscle) and is actually taller than several of our small dogs. He loves bananas, watermelon and dill pickles. He was adopted from Rude Ranch as a kitten, but unfortunately lost his home during the housing crisis in 2008.   Since returning, he has become an avid computer helper, and is willing to be a furry paperweight for any loose papers on your desk.

Rude Ranch Pet of the Week

Rude Ranch Pet of the Week: Ginger

A look at pets up for adoption at Rude Ranch Animal Rescue.

The following was submitted to Patch from Rude Ranch Animal Rescue. If you are interested in adopting one of Rude Ranch's pets, please visit them at 3200 Ivy Way in Harwood. Ginger changed her luck a couple years ago. Ginger was a pet in Atlantic City, NJ when she found herself "in a family way." Not wanting to deal with Ginger's new family, she was abandoned under the Atlantic City boardwalk with other stray cats.   Shortly afterwards the city decided to take action to reduce the number of feral and stray cats living under the boardwalk. They instituted a plan to trap and fix the cats that were wild, and try to find homes for the cats and kittens that were adoptable. To prevent overcrowding in nearby shelters, the adoptable cats were sent…

South River Colony Helps Protect Stray Cats

The homeowner’s association has partnered with Rude Ranch Animal Rescue to manage the local Edgewater community feral cat population.

The South River Colony Conservancy (SRCC) Homeowner’s Association and Rude Ranch Animal Rescue of Harwood have joined forces to help area cats in need. In an effort to manage the local Edgewater community’s feral cat population, SRCC has instituted a Trap-Neuter-Release program. The program is targeted at humane management of the feral cat population, which had become an increasing problem in the community. “I have been the property manager for a long time and had become used to hearing complaints from people that didn’t like that the cats were around,” said Tracy Powelson, general manager of South River Colony Conservancy. “People would complain that there were litters under their decks and steps, and they wanted the board to take action…
