Teachers can enjoy 10 percent off a Kahve every Tuesday.
Kahve Café in Edgewater is celebrating teachers and thanking them for their hard work with a discount. Beginning April 16, the local café introduced Teacher Tuesday, a promotion that offers 10 percent off to all school employees every Tuesday. “I had been talking to some of the teachers that come in and was trying to work something out,” said Kahve owner Joe Valentino. “I wanted to do something to show some appreciation for what teachers do.” Kahve opened in Edgewater on June 18, 2011 and quickly became a local favorite. The café offers coffee, teas, breakfast treats, tasty sandwiches and more. After graduating from college, Valentino spent two years teaching at a boarding school in Indiana. The local coffee shop hosts local musicians every Friday.
Every Friday, Kahve Cafe in Edgewater hosts local musicians to perform at open-mic nights. This past week, an Annapolis guitarist named Eli Pipkin performed for local residents occupying the java hot-spot. Among the songs he played, Pipkin covered Andy McKee's "Drifting," a unique song that requires the musician to play melodies, rhythmic beats and background bass tones. Kipkin posted a video of his performance on YouTube, so check out the young musician's rendition of "Drifting," performed at Edgewater's Kahve Cafe.

Kahve Cafe is offering one free bagel per customer during a special promotion Monday morning only!
Patch got word from Kahve Cafe owner and manager, Joe Valentino, that his local business is giving away free bagels Monday morning while supplies last. "We want everyone to try them," Valentino said. "Plus, they are homemade from scratch." No purchase is necessary and the deal lasts as long as they don't run out of supplies. Ranging from "everything" bagels (my favorite) to blueberry, it'll definitely be a great way to start the week—who doesn't love free stuff! Whether the promotion is just a strategic ploy to win Patch's new Readers' Choice contest remains to be seen, but regardless of the motive, local residents have a reason to get up, get out and head over to Kahve. The cafe opens at 6:30 a.m., so be prompt too. If you haven't checked…

Owner Joe Valentino's hard work is paying off now that more people are enjoying one of Edgewater's newest cafes.
Since opening Kahve Cafe on June 18, 2011, owner Joe Valentino has only taken three days off. Three days—that’s it. But now, after battling long hours and the stress of opening a new business, Valentino and his staff are seeing the fruits of their labor. Earlier this week, The Capital announced that Kahve Cafe won its Coffee Madness Tournament. For weeks, the competition—styled like the NCAA mens basketball tournament—pitted cafes against one another for three-day periods to see which local residents preferred. In its final matchup, Kahve faced Eggcellence of Annapolis and came out with the victory. “This tournament was a mix of having good coffee and good customers,” Valentino said. “Giving away free coffee brings in new customers, but …

The local cafe is in the finals of The Capital's "Coffee Madness Tournament," pitting two local coffee shops against one another.
Edgewater’s Kahve Cafe is in the finals for this year’s Coffee Madness Tournament, hosted by The Capital newspaper. For weeks, the competition—styled like the NCAA mens basketball tournament— has pitted two cafes against one another for three-day periods to see which is best, using the number of redeemed coupons from The Capital as the determining factor. This week marks the “finals,” putting Kahve Cafe against Eggcellence of Annapolis. Joe Valentino, owner and general manager of Kahve Cafe, said he’s excited to see if the new cafe can overthrow an Annapolis establishment. “It means a lot in the land of Annapolis to have a cafe outside of Annapolis be in the final,” Valentino said. “Being in the final definitely means a lot. It means we …
