Family's Nonprofit Raises $5K for Nepalese Children

Grassroots Education Nepal, operated by a Davidsonville familiy, recently raised more than $5,000 through its raffle fundraiser.

With help from the surrounding community, a Davidsonville family’s nonprofit Grassroots Education Nepal announced that it had raised more than $5,000 to benefit young students in Asia. In October, Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch published an article capturing the remarkable journey of the Church family, and how a bike trip for their son turned into a life-changing endeavor. Since then, the Church family had been selling raffle tickets to raise money for the Mikey Medium English School—named after their son. And recently, they announced the fundraiser helped provide more than $5,000 for the school, its students and its teachers. Expenses for one child at the English school in Nepal are about $200.
