Edgewater Community Rallies to Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims

Stan and Joe’s Saloon, as well as an Edgewater resident, are helping to load trucks of supplies for those affected by the tornadoes in Oklahoma.

Just two days after the town of Moore, OK, was devastated by a tornado, the Edgewater community is rallying to help. What began as an endeavor by Stan and Joe’s to help one of their own has turned into a grassroots effort throughout the entire community. Former Stan and Joe’s employee Keith Henderson’s brother lives right outside Moore, and just escaped the tornado’s path. After seeing the damage done to the town, Henderson called Stan and Joe’s and asked for help. “He said he was heading to Oklahoma and wanted to fill a truck with supplies, and it turned into this beautiful monstrous thing,” said Stan and Joe’s co-owner Joe McGovern. The local saloon started taking donations around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, and by the time McGovern and his wife …

Blessing Bikes, Thanking Troops at Stan and Joe’s

The Blessing of the Bikes was held at Stan and Joe’s on Sunday afternoon.

Motorcycle enthusiasts gathered at Stan and Joe’s in Edgewater on Sunday for a Blessing of the Bikes. They also raised money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Joe McGovern, co-owner of Stan & Joe’s, said the event was a success. The annual event is done with a local chapter of Hogs for Heroes, an organization of motorcycle riders that is committed to supporting public safety officials, the U.S. Military and Wounded Warriors. McGovern shared a video of the event with Patch. In the video, he summed up the blessing of the bikes in simple words: “God bless you. God bless America. And God bless Stan and Joe's,” McGovern said. The Edgewater location is celebrating two years of business.

In February, Stan & Joe’s Saloon celebrated six years of business in Annapolis, and on Sunday they are doing it again in Edgewater. Stan and Joe’s Celebrates Six Years of Success

The local saloon will host a celebration at its Annapolis location on Sunday in honor of its anniversary.

Stan Fletcher and Joe McGovern say the keys to their success with Stan and Joe’s Saloon is a positive energy, good food and a local crowd. Fletcher and McGovern opened Stan and Joe’s on West Street in Annapolis six years ago on Jan. 30 and expanded to Edgewater two years ago April 1. In honor of the saloon’s recent anniversary the pair is hosting a celebration on Sunday. However, McGovern said they would not be celebrating their milestone if it weren’t for promises made very early on in the business venture. “We made a promise to each other years ago,” McGovern said. “We knew it was going to be hectic—anyone can pour beer, but to be successful in this business you have to put your heart and soul in it and I am lucky to have a business …
