Local Gymnasts Bring Home Gold

Four national champions return from Arizona meet.

Local gymnastics team, Win Win gymnastics from Odenton, returned from the National Judges Cup in Phoenix with four National Champions. Over the course of the two-day meet in Phoenix, Jan. 7-8, the six ladies chosen to represent Maryland place  seventh overall in the State Team Challenge. They brought home 19 medals, including; four gold, four silver, four bronze and seven medals ranging from fourth place to ninth place. The team of six Level 7 Junior Olympic gymnasts, ranging in age from 9 to 11 was the youngest group of girls at the competition and secured the State of Maryland’s  first-time ever placement in the 21-year competition’s top 10 teams for their level. Maryland Gymnasts Head to Nationals in Arizona this Week

Team departs Thursday for Phoenix aboard Southwest flight piloted by the dad to one of the young athletes.

A handful of young gymnasts prepare for the 21st annual National Judges Cup in Phoenix next week. The team from Win-Win Gymnastics in Odenton finished in first place this past November in Level 7 at the Maryland State Judge's Invitational Meet. The team competed against 11 teams from all over Maryland, beating out the second place team by .075 points.  The Win-Win team was  picked by Maryland gymnastics judges to represent the state in Arizona. This is the team's first national level meet. The Judges Cup takes place Jan. 7-9. The Win-Win gymnasts will compete Friday and Saturday against 21 other teams from around the nation.
