UPDATE: South River's 'Empty Bowls' Invites Community to Feast

The first Empty Bowls event at South River High on Wednesday is sold out.

UPDATE (3 p.m.)—After donating more food than any school in all of Maryland last year during its Harvest for the Hungry campaign, South River High is making another push this year with a brand new event called “Empty Bowls.” In partnership with local restaurants including The Killarney House, The Chop House, South County Café, Chevy’s and Chick-Fil-A, the school is hosting an all-you-can-eat soup dinner for the community to raise money for families in need. Wesley Baker, a teacher at South River High and one of the leaders of the Empty Bowls event, said the dinner is just the next step in teaching young people the importance of caring for others.
