The former "X Factor" contestant from Riva will perform March 2 with Nick Harrison.
David Correy, of X Factor fame, will be performing close to his Riva home on Saturday at The Whiskey in Annapolis. The singer, a favorite in this area, was reportedly born in Brazil and adopted by a Riva couple. His appearance on X Factor gained him recognition for what his website describes as "urban rock"—and Correy is known for his unique blend of hip-hop, rock and pop. Many locals were upset when he was eliminated from the show. Correy's "homecoming" concert on Saturday will also feature Nick Harrison, another Marylander, and the show starts at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and available online for those age 21 and older. Despite his fans’ displeasure, Riva’s hometown star David Correy was eliminated from The X Factor last week after judge L.A. Reid chose Jason Brock to stay in the competition. Correy, a 26-year-old from Riva, captured the hearts of thousands over the course of a few weeks as he wowed the show’s fans and judges with his vocals and his personal story. An adopted child, Correy initially went on The X Factor to become a star and hopefully use his voice to connect with his Brazilian birth mother. David Correy, 26, of Riva, appeared on The X Factor to be reunited with his birth mother. His wait could soon be over.
After Riva resident David Correy solidified a spot in the final 16 of The X Factor, the 26-year-old reiterated his dream of using his voice to find his birth mother. “To my birth mother, where you are, I hope we can reunite, and I’m going to keep on singing until we do,” Correy said. Correy, who was adopted, initially went on The X Factor to become a star and hopefully use his voice to connect with his Brazilian birth mother. Over the past few weeks, the local resident has won the hearts of millions of fans as well as the show’s judges, including Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid. Riva man and X Factor rising star David Correy recently earned a spot in the popular television show’s round of 16. Over the last few weeks, the 26-year-old from Riva has been capturing the hearts of The X Factor fans and judges alike. He entered the competition to become a star and hopefully reconnect with his birth mother—something that’s been a goal since he was young, he said on the show. A 26-year-old charismatic singer from Riva is capturing the hearts of X Factor USA fans—including hard-to-please judge Simon Cowell. In his second performance on the show Wednesday night, local musician David Correy wowed judges again with his rendition of Duffy’s Mercy. His voice filled the audition auditorium and some competitors were visibly uncomfortable with how good he sounded.
