GIRLS - The South River girl's soccer team (1-1) dropped a tough decision on Thursday, falling 2-1 to Broadneck (2-0) in extra time. Trailing going into the later stages of the game, the host Seahawks were given new life when junior Dannie Stith struck a 25-yard shot into the net to tie the game at one. Broadneck's Arden Smith would steal the show in extra time with a similar strike. The first extra-time period was nearing completion when Smith's right-footed blast from atop the box sealed the win for the visiting Bruins. "Those are two sophomores that scored goals and we're very happy about that," Broadneck coach John Camm said. Smith and Broadneck's first goal scorer, Emily Barton, are both just sophomores.
