Police Continue Traffic Campaign After Streak of Deadly Collisions

Anne Arundel County police are executing a plan designed to decrease traffic injuries and fatalities.

Police across the state of Maryland are looking to take drunk drivers off the road as people celebrate the New Year. The holiday is annually one of the worst days of the year for drunk driving arrests. But this year, the holiday comes shortly after a devastating year in Anne Arundel County that left many pedestrians dead and more seriously injured in 40 days. In Edgewater, Davidsonville and south county alone, police have had to respond and help prevent serious accidents throughout 2012: In response to traffic-related deaths and injuries, the Anne Arundel County Police Department announced the "Thirty-Five to Save Lives" campaign, which started on Dec. 10 and will continue through Jan. 7. Lothian Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Stabbing

Police say a man received multiple stab wounds Saturday morning after a disagreement went awry.

A Lothian man was charged with first-degree attempted murder after police said he stabbed another man multiple times following an argument on Sands Road early Saturday morning. Police charged Jerome Otto Waters, 55, of the 5200 block of Sands Road in Lothian, with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. At about 5 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the 1300 block of Mt. Zion Marlboro Road in Lothian for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, police said they learned that a stabbing took place a short distance away, on the 5400 block of Sands Road. Edgewater Woman Suffers Critical Injuries in Lothian Crash

Police say the crash occurred on Bayard Road at 2:31 p.m. on Friday.

A 70-year-old Edgewater woman was in critical condition over the weekend after her car rolled over onto its roof on Bayard Road near Polling House Road in Lothian on Friday night, according to an Anne Arundel County police press release.  Audrey Ann Gray of Edgewater was taken to the University of Maryland Hospital Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where she was listed in critical condition on Saturday, according to the release. Police said they responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Bayard Road near Polling House Road at 2:31 p.m. on Friday. When they arrived, officers found a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox on its roof on the side of the road. According to the release, an initial investigation indicates the Chevrolet was traveling west …

PHOTOS: County Police Officers Honored at Promotion Ceremony

The county's newest Deputy Chief Pamela Davis officially received her promotion along with several other high-ranking officers.

Newly appointed Deputy Chief Pamela Davis and several high-ranking officers officially received their promotions Thursday morning at the Southern District Police Station in Edgewater. Political leaders, community activists and a crowd of county police officers attended the ceremony to support of those being promoted. Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold and Police Chief Larry W. Tolliver offered congratulations as each officer was highlighted for his or her service and experience over the years. The unofficial mayor of Shady Side, Mohan Grover, also addressed the room and personally thanked Capt. William Krampf and Lt. Davis To Be Named Deputy Police Chief

Maj. Pamela Davis will become the county's newest deputy police chief in a special ceremony Thursday morning in Edgewater. She had previously served as interim chief earlier this year.

Several police officers, including former interim police chief Pamela Davis, are scheduled to be honored at a promotional ceremony Thursday morning at the southern district police station in Edgewater. According to a police press release, Davis, a 19-year veteran of the department, will be promoted to Deputy Chief of the Office of Executive Services on Wednesday. Her previous posts include Commander of the Training Academy, the Criminal Investigation Division and both the southern and eastern districts. In July, Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold appointed Davis as interim police chief following former police chief James Teare’s announcement that he would retire effective Aug. 1. Police Find Crack Cocaine in Lothian Drug Investigation

Detectives also found seven dogs at the Lothian home in addition to $2,475 cash and crack cocaine, according to police.

Anne Arundel County police arrested two men, confiscated 0.5 grams of crack cocaine and $2,475 in cash after concluding a drug investigation at a home on Lower Pindell Road in Lothian on Tuesday, according to a press release. Wayne Darnell Creek, 40, of the 1600 block of Dery Court in Upper Marlboro was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Police also arrested Delano Emanuel Creek, 47, of the 3900 block of Gordon Stinnett Avenue in Chesapeake Beach for an outstanding warrant in Calvert County.
