Fire officials say the crash occurred around 1 a.m. on Sunday.
An early morning crash on Central Avenue on Sunday seriously injured two teens. Fire officials responded to the 700 block of Central Avenue around 1 a.m. on Sunday for a one-car crash, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Division Chief Keith Swindle. Swindle said a male and a female, both approximately 17 years old, were found inside the car with serious injuries. Due to weather conditions, the teens could not be airlifted, but were transported to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Any county resident can have as many as four boxes of personal documents shredded at no cost during the event in May.
Do you have a bunch of old documents you'd like to get shredded? County residents can have as many as four boxes of paper destroyed at no cost during the annual "Shred-A-Rama" event at South River High School in May. The event, now in its seventh year, will take place at four locations in Anne Arundel County and is sponsored by the local Police-Community Relations Council. The shredding will take place on May 18 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the following locations: There is no cost for the shredding, but donations are appreciated. To ensure proper shredding, avoid bringing any items in metal binders or clips. CDs, X-Rays and film will not be accepted.

Anne Arundel County Police Chief Larry Tolliver announced his resignation Tuesday afternoon, in a letter that says the decision was not "stimulated" by negative claims about the department.
After a stretch of less than nine months heading police in Anne Arundel County, Chief Larry Tolliver announced his resignation Tuesday afternoon, as the county awaits the outcome of an investigation into claims of unfair treatment within the department. "I am resigning today because the department needs a chief who can focus solely on the department’s mission, something that is challenging to do in the current environment," Tolliver said in the letter. Tolliver's resignation is effective May 21. Patch contacted the office of County Executive Laura Neuman for information about possible replacements, but she has yet to respond. Fire officials say no one was injured in the blaze.
UPDATE (10:51 a.m. Tuesday)—Anne Arundel firefighters battled a two-alarm house fire in Shady Side on Monday night that caused $100,000 in damages. Crews responded to the 4000 block of Woods Wharf Road in Shady Side at 5:20 p.m. to find 25 percent of the building engulfed in flames, said Battalion Chief Steve Thompson of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Thompson said fire fighters called for a second-alarm at 5:30 p.m. and began aggressively battling the blaze. It took 56 firefighters to bring the fire under control at 8:15 p.m. According to a release, the fire causes $100,000 in damages, and investigators discovered there were no working smoke detectors in the home. Two adults and a dog were displaced as a result of the blaze. …
