Winter is dealing Maryland a one-two punch with the coldest temperatures in 20 years en route after last week's snowfall that totaled six inches in Edgewater and South County.

Dangerously cold air from Canada will blanket the region Monday, on the heels of Sunday's freezing rain.

How cold are we talking?

"Bitterly cold conditions are expected behind an Arctic front Monday through Tuesday night. Record cold temperatures are expected across the area. This air mass may turn out to be the coldest in 20 years. Dangerously low wind chills are also expected during this time," according to the National Weather Service.

On the Chesapeake Bay, gales are likely Monday night and could stick around Tuesday on the water, the weather service reported.
