In February, Edgewater resident Katie Gateau and Kristin Watson lost their dear friend Bridget Beth Melvin when she passed away from lupus complications.
Since Melvin’s passing, the two friends began working with the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) to help the 1.5 million people nationwide diagnosed with lupus.
On Monday, local residents can join their fight by going to the Cold Stone Creamery in Edgewater from 6-9 p.m. Part of the proceeds will go to Watson and Gateau’s support effort, “Team Bridget,” as they hope to raise $10,000 for the LFA.
So head on down to the local ice cream hot spot and grab a scoop of my personal favorite—birthday cake batter.
Your money will fill your stomach and help save lives, all at the same time.
Lupus is a long-term autoimmune disorder that can affect various parts of the body, including skin, bones and organs.
