The South County Pre-Kindergarten Co-op (SCPC) is inviting the public to a dinner, dance and auction on Feb. 16 to raise money for the school.
The SCPC is a nonprofit corporation designed to provide a quality preschool experience to 3- and 4-year-old students. The fundraiser will help provide funds needed for education, according to Katie Epperly, the chair of the Ways and Means committee, which handles fundraising.
“Because we are a co-op, our tuition strictly covers teacher salaries,” said Epperly. “All funds raised from the auction and other fundraisers go to the following year’s academic programs, to keeping the lights on and things like that. Literally everything but teacher salaries.”
The dinner, dance and auction is being held from 6 to 11 p.m. on Feb. 16 at The Westin in Annapolis. Tickets are $50 a person and must be purchased in advance.
Epperly said the theme for the event is Caribbean Cruise and the auction will feature both silent and live bidding. The silent auction will feature gift cards as well as sentimental items from the school.
The Captain’s Picks and live auction items range from signed sports and celebrity memorabilia, Redskins tickets, Ravens jerseys, and vacation trips including Annapolis destinations, the Whitetail ski resort, and even an African safari.
Epperly said the starting bid for all of the items is priced below retail value.
“It’s really exciting and adventurous packages as well as relaxing trips,” she said. “Some of the items people related to the school will find sentimental but there are also items for people who don’t go to the school. It’s a nice mix.”
