Consider yourself warned. When your phone lights up with tweets Sunday about a gunman at Westfield Annapolis Mall, relax, it’s only a drill.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department will conduct an active shooter simulation training exercise Sunday morning at Westfield Annapolis Mall.
The mall will be closed to the public during the exercise.
Full contingencies of emergency equipment will be on hand to simulate a real life active shooter, according to police.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department will send out advisories leading up to and during the event via Reverse 911, Nixle messaging, Facebook and Twitter. Members of the Annapolis Police Department and the Anne Arundel County Fire Department will also participate in the drill.
The exercise will before the mall opens for business, so there will be no disruption to normal business activities.
