Toddler Hospitalized with Life-Threatening Injuries After Harwood Crash

Paramedics transported the young child and an adult woman to nearby trauma centers.

Two people, including a 3-year-old girl, suffered life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon in the crash of their car into a tree on Sands Road, according to Battalion Chief Steve Thompson of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

At about 4:15 p.m., firefighters and paramedics responded to the 4400 block of Sands Road for a report of a single motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, they found a car that had crashed into a tree.

Paramedics transported a 49-year-old woman to the trauma unit at Washington Hospital and took a 3-year-old girl to the trauma unit at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, Thompson said.

Both of their injuries were serious and life-threatening, he said.
