The case remains unsolved, but is still an active investigation, police said.
On March 22, Anne Arundel County police responded to 3300 block of Royale Glen Court in Davidsonville to investigate a reported death.
Once at the scene, they discovered the body of 37-year-old Nicole Burgess. The body of a dog was also found on the scene. Police said Burgess was suffering from upper body trauma, and it was later revealed by the medical examiner's office that both Burgess and the dog were stabbed to death.
Though initially classified as 'suspicious,' Burgess' death was soon ruled a homicide.
Police say they believe Burgess was targeted, and they have collected physical evidence and have conducted numerous interviews, according to AACPD spokesperson Justin Mulcahy.
Mulcahy classified the investigation as "progressing" but could not elaborate more because the case is ongoing.
