A two-alarm fire blazed through a Shady Side home early Tuesday morning, causing $350,000 in damages, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Firefighters received a call for the house fire on the 1700 block Columbia Beach Road just after midnight Tuesday. Once on the scene, they found a three-story house "heavily involved in fire" and posing a threat to nearby homes.

Realizing they were up against such a large fire with no hydrant system in the area, firefighters quickly issued a second alarm, bringing more firefighters to the scene.

Companies from Anne Arundel County, Calvert County and Annapolis City worked together to bring the flames under control. It took a total of 50 firefighters about two hours to fully extinguish the blaze.

The home was not occupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. AACFD estimated damages at around $350,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
