POLICE: Galesville Woman Attempts Burglary, Is Caught By Homeowner

Police said Nichol Conley, the estranged wife of a former candidate for Annapolis city council, was caught by an Annapolis resident trying to break into a home through the kitchen window.

Annapolis police arrested a Galesville woman for reportedly breaking into a home Tuesday night.

Nichol Conley, 43, of Galesville was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and charged with burglary. Police said a resident in the 100 block of Prince George Street told officers they found Conley trying to enter through a kitchen window.

Conley is the estranged wife of James Conley, who was the Republican candidate for Ward 5 in the 2009 city election. Anne Arundel County court records show that in May 2012, James Conley obtained an order of protection against Nichol Conley.

The resident, who said he did not know Nichol Conley before the incident, told police she was halfway through the window when she was caught, according to the police report. The resident told police the window had been shut but not locked prior to the incident.

When the resident spotted Nichol Conley, she immediately backed out of the window, according to police. The resident told officers a chase ensued and Nichol Conley was eventually brought back to the house before calling the police, according to the report.

The report said Nichol Conley appeared to be intoxicated at the time. Police charged her with fourth-degree burglary and trespassing.

Wow. Rarely does Galesville make the news...and it's a shame it's like this!

Just looked her up, and she has multiple addresses. Makes me feel better that she won't smother Galesville's name....
