The receptionist at an Annapolis hair salon laughed off the demands of a robber, who eventually gave up, chatted with the woman and then left, say Anne Arundel County Police Department.
The suspect entered the Bubbles Hair Salon located at 2564 Solomons Island Road in Annapolis about 5 p.m. Wednesday and announced a robbery.
His arm and hand were under his shirt, implying that the suspect had a weapon, although he never showed or said he had one. Police said he repeated his demands, but the receptionist laughed, not believing the suspect was serious. He then created small talk before leaving the building.
Soon after, the receptionist flagged down a police officer and reported the incident. She said after the suspect left the salon he went to another nearby business before being picked up by a white Nissan. The woman was able to give officers a partial tag number for the car.
Detectives developed a suspect who was positively identified by witnesses as Ryan Michael Trembly, 29, of 438 Carvel Beach Road in Curtis Bay. He was arrested at his mother’s house in the Curtis Bay area
Trembly is charged with one count of attempted robbery and one count of theft less than $1,000.
