A 4-year-old boy who slipped away from a Saturday birthday party was found floating in nearby Marley Creek and pronounced dead at an area hospital.
According to Anne Arundel County Police, paramedics were called about 5:41 p.m. to a report of a drowning in the 1100 block of Marley Creek Drive in Glen Burnie.
Adults were administering CPR when officers arrived. Paramedics arrived and took the child to Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment. The boy -- Jaden Dixon, 4, of Glen Burnie -- was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.
The child was attending a birthday party in the front yard of the home. The boy, who was a guest at the party with a relative, was able to get into the back yard, which was secured by gates. It appears Jaden then made his way to a small pier by Marley Creek.
After 3 to 5 minutes party-govers noticed that Jaden was missing. He was soon seen floating in the creek. Police said several guests rushed to the pier, jumped in and pulled the boy to the land, where 911 was called and CPR was administered.
Early indication is that this was a tragic accident, police said.
