Hey, guys! My name is Daisy and I’m so very pleased to meet you. I’m an adorable and loveable three-year-old fawn pug with big, soulful brown eyes and a frowny little face that you can’t help but smile at. I’m your typical pug - sweet and affectionate, love to snuggle, and devoted to my people. I enjoy being the center of attention and, like all princesses, I deserve to be spoiled.
I was surrendered by my former owner to a shelter in Maryland, which is no place for a delicate pup like me. I had a few challenges in my former home when they brought a new dog in because I didn’t feel like sharing the spotlight or attention. Besides, why would anyone need another dog when you have me to love and entertain you? Mutts Matter has tested me around other dogs and I’m just fine when I’m out on a walk, and don’t react or have much interest in other dogs. Inside the home is a different story; I’m protective of my territory, and need to be the only dog in your home. So, if you're thinking about adopting me, just know that it’s not going to work out between us if you have other dogs in the home.
Mutts Matter found me a great foster home and I’m doing really well here. My foster parents are both retired and have all day to love and spoil me. My foster dad takes me on walks through the woods every day, we watch basketball games together, and when he goes to Home Depot, he lets me stick my head out the car window to take it all in. My foster mom knows that I love food and toys, and she makes sure I have plenty of both. She likes to surprise me with my favorite treat, delicious cheese, and even mixes boiled chicken into my kibble, and she always keeps the appropriate amount of squeaky toys around for me to play with. This is the life!
My foster mom says that I’ve made her a pug-lover. She thinks I’m the sweetest dog she’s ever met and that I wear my heart on my paw. I have so much love to give and just want to share it with everyone. When my parents come home or if folks come to visit us, I greet everyone with pure joy and squeak with enthusiasm. I’m just glad to have their company (and attention). I would be great in a home with kids, a retired couple, or an active family. I just need to have a lot of quality time with my people.
I’m an easy dog to live with and will let you know what I need. I’m already housetrained, and make a little snorty bark when I need to go outside. I do a little dance before I potty, which makes my foster mom laugh, and she appreciates how lady-like and efficient I am. I make one twirl in the yard before I pee, one twirl before I poo, and then I’m done. I’m also a great snuggle companion and love to sleep in, so it didn’t take me long to earn a spot in bed with my foster parents. A little bat of my eyes and a bashful whimper and I was in. They don’t even seem to mind that I snore sometimes, and I try to blame that on my foster dad whenever I can.
Like all pugs, I need special care and maintenance to keep me healthy, and would fit best with a family who has experience with my breed. Someone who knows I need my skin folds and nose roll cleaned daily, and understands that pugs are prone to allergies and skin issues, and should be fed a grain-free diet. We are also sensitive to heat and can overheat from rigorous exercise, so we should only be walked for short distances at a time. Preference will be given to families who have prior pug or flat-faced breed experience.
