Gators Football Recap Weekend of 8/31-9/2

This blog will provide info regarding the Gator Football program. Each week, I will post scores from the previous week and look ahead to next week's games. GO GATORS!!!

70lb  Gators 0 - Ft Meade 6

 The Gators took the field Saturday morning against Ft. Meade. The game was locked up until 2 minutes remained in the 4th quarter when Ft. Meade had a 25 yard touchdown run to go up 6-0. The Gators made one final drive only to fall just short of a game tying touchdown. Daniel Holmes recorded 8 solo tackles and 5 assists while Daniel Pavon disrupted the middle with 4 tackles and a fumble recovery.  Next game : Sat Sept 8, 9am vs Andover @ D'ville Park

80lb  Gators 12 - Ft Meade 19

The Gators started their 2012 season against Ft Meade.  A touchdown run by QB Gavin Burlace put the Gators on the board.  An interception by Joseph Zacharski ended the 2nd quarter.  The Gators scored another TD on a run by Ethan Doudna.  The defense did a great job, led by Drew Mestas and Nathan Zacharski to keep the score to 19-12.  Next Game: Sat Sept 8, 10:30am vs Andover @ D'ville Park. 

90lb Gators 0 - Ft Meade 12 

In a hard fought game, the Gators came up a little short, losing to Ft. Meade 12-0 on a very hot Saturday afternoon.  The Gators racked up a lot of yards offensively, driving deep into Ft. Meade territory on several occasions but couldn't find the end zone.  Carrying the load for the Gators running attack were Colin Burlace and Malcolm Doster, who had a touchdown called back late in the 2nd Half. Next Game : Sat Sept 8 12pm vs Andover @ D'ville Park  

100lb Gators 6 - Ft. Meade 0

The Gators were locked in a tough defensive battle with the Ft. Meade Cougars on Saturday. Justin Graham scored the game's only touchdown and the Gators were lead defensively by Victor Troese, Franny O'Hara, Peter Alexandrides and Jamison Gaskins as leading tacklers. Other notable contributions were lead by Ian Beall, Ben Taylor and Isaiah Ventura who all had fumble recoveries on the day. Next Game: Sat Sept 8 1:30pm vs Andover @ D'ville Park

11U  Gators 21 - Ft Meade 0 (Postponed)

The Gators took a 21-0 lead going into halftime with TD runs by Ian Krampf, Topher Spindler and Kyle Fleshman.  At the beginning of the 3rd quarter a strong thunderstorm pushed through causing the game to be postponed to a later date.  Next Game: Sat Sept 8 3pm vs Andover @ D'ville Park

Varsity (13U) Gators 36 - Annapolis BGC - 0

The Gators jumped out to an early lead with a 59 yard TD run by Warren Dixon on the first play on their opening drive.  Nick Vermilion added 3 touchdowns, including a 45yd TD reception from Qb Christian Frymark.  The Gators offensive line provided plenty of room to run for the Gators backfield.  Defensively, the Gators were led by Brandon Downs, Justin Granzow and Garrett Phillips.  Phillips scored late in the fourth quarter on a 30 yard interception return.  Next Game: Sun Sept 9 12pm vs Southern @ Southern Middle School

Note: Gators 11U Central plays Crofton on Sat Sept 8 1:30pm @ Crofton Park

Mitchell carries South River to 3-1 victory Scott Mitchell put the Hawks on his sturdy shoulders,Read More leading them both at the plate and on the mound, as South River beat Northeast 3-1 on Saturday at Northeast. Mitchell collected doubles in the first and fifth innings and a single in the seventh, and had two of the Hawks three RBIs. Leadoff batter Gabe Vertucci had two hits, Conner Cox ripped a double, and Craig Sheridan had a single and also plated Cox with an RBI sacrifice fly. With eight strikeouts keeping the Eagles at bay, Mitchell allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks over seven innings. South River moved to 8-2 on the season.
