Top 5: Youth Charged in Arson, Inaugural Ball for LilyRose

This week Patch reported that an AutoZone is coming to Edgewater and that three juveniles were charged with arson.

1. 3 Youths Charged with Arson in Boat Fire
Anne Arundel County fire investigators have charged two 12-year-old girls and a 13-year-old boy with arson in Tuesday night’s boat fire in Edgewater.

2. Muddy Creek Road Construction Delayed to Spring
Construction at the Muddy Creek Road intersection is being delayed until spring, when warmer temperatures will allow for line painting.

3. AutoZone Coming to Edgewater
An AutoZone will soon take up residence in Edgewater. Construction crews have already begun work on Route 2. According to Tracie Reynolds, a spokesperson for Anne Arundel Planning and Zoning, permits for the AutoZone were approved in December 2012 and the builder has since started construction.

4. LilyRose Cupcakes Shine at Inaugural Ball
Celebrities, politicians and people from around the world got to experience cupcakes from LilyRose Monday evening at the first Ambassadors Inaugural Ball.

5. Shady Side Resident Honored at Captain Avery Museum
A former Shady Side man was recently honored by having a boat shed named after him at the Captain Avery Museum. A sign has been placed in honor of George Daly on the boat shed that houses the Edna Florence, a West River boat on display at the Captain Avery Museum.

Mitchell carries South River to 3-1 victory Scott Mitchell put the Hawks on his sturdy shoulders,Read More leading them both at the plate and on the mound, as South River beat Northeast 3-1 on Saturday at Northeast. Mitchell collected doubles in the first and fifth innings and a single in the seventh, and had two of the Hawks three RBIs. Leadoff batter Gabe Vertucci had two hits, Conner Cox ripped a double, and Craig Sheridan had a single and also plated Cox with an RBI sacrifice fly. With eight strikeouts keeping the Eagles at bay, Mitchell allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks over seven innings. South River moved to 8-2 on the season.
