AutoZone Coming to Edgewater

The store is being built on Route 2 next to the Sonic.

An AutoZone will soon take up residence in Edgewater. Construction crews have already begun work on Route 2.

According to Tracie Reynolds, a spokesperson for Anne Arundel Planning and Zoning, permits for the AutoZone were approved in December 2012 and the builder has since started construction.

A few Patch readers began noticing the construction this week. Despite the cold, crews have been digging in the area next to the Sonic on Route 2 throughout the week.

Patch was not able to confirm an opening date for the AutoZone, and will provide updates when more information becomes available.

Thank goodness it's not another bank. Still the transformation of Edgewater makes me wonder if we shouldn't change the name to "New Glen Burnie".
