Father's Day is Sunday. We checked out local stores for what's hot.

Father's Day isn't just a North American celebration. It's celebrated in Australia, South America, Europe, Central America, Asia and the Middle East.

But what to do to celebrate your dad? We checked out local businesses to find a variety of gift ideas.

: The Mayo Road store is an outpost for the automotive enthusiast. Store manager Chris Lyford said that they can do just about anything to enhance dad's ride. Lyford said that rainguards, window tinting, and custom wheels are just a few of the things a dad might like. They also carry custom sound and security systems.

"Usually, people who shop here for Father's Day have an idea of what he wants, so we suggest a gift card. Just come in with the year, make and model of the car or truck and we can get the gift card amountdown to the exact amount so that dad can then come in and decide on the specifics," Lyford said.

: An ongoing special offers a chance to win a gas grill with each $25 gift card purchase. he gas grill drawing will be held on Father's Day. Manager Danny Barthel said that they offer call ahead seating to treat dad to a steak supper. "We'll probably be offering something special. Last year we did a steak and beer special for Father's Day," Barthel said.

The South River Colony Main Street store is a great stop for the grilling enthusiast dad in your life. Get him novelty beer glasses and mugs ($7-$10), grilling cookbooks ( up to $40), or specialty barbecue tools (up to $55).

Mike Lohsl, owner of this local cigar shop said that any dad who enjoys cigars would enjoy a locker ($200/year), to store cigars and beverages. "That way you'll know where he is," Lohsl said. The shop is part retail venue, part mancave. They also sell cigars ($2.25 to $110), humidors, lighters, cutters and other cigar accessories.

Mention that you read about the Father's Day specials at Patch.com and owner Bruce Packet will pay your sales tax on your Dad's Day gifts. The local guitar store carries a full line of fender acoustic guitars and PRS (Paul Reed Smith) electric guitars. Maybe dad is interested in learning how to play? Get him set up with a lessons, a strap and a pick.

Manager Scott Fait said that their line of barbecue grills and accessories make ideal gifts for dads and grandads. In addition, the hot tub tent sale will be ongoing through the weekend, and the nursery has a nice variety of shade trees and tropicals in stock. For the birdlover, Ace carries a full line of feed, feeders and poles. They also carry Hatteras Hammocks, which is a new item this season. Can't you just picture dad hanging out under the shade of a tree in his new hammock?
