Roadside Stands and Farmers’ Markets Signify Summer is Here

An array of fresh, local vegetables and fruit awaits folks as Memorial Day draws near.

Farm stands and markets overflowing with fresh-picked vegetables and fruit is a sure sign that summer has arrived. Crisp cucumbers, colorful red, yellow and green peppers, juicy tomatoes, sweet corn and just-harvested apples, pears, peaches and berries are a few sensational summer delights offered at stands and markets here in South County.

In celebration of Memorial Day and the “unofficial” beginning of summer, Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch.com has compiled a list of local growers as provided by the website, "Maryland's Best."

Numerous vendors are currently open with seasonal produce available for sale.  So before you fire up the grill this holiday weekend, head on over to a roadside stand or farmers’ market near you and fill up on the tastiest fruits and veggies summer has to offer.
