Anne Arundel County Animal Control is asking the public's assistance in locating a more than 6-foot-long boa constrictor snake that was last seen in the Lothian area, according to a statement on the Animal Control Facebook page.

The Animal Control office is asking anyone who spots the snake to contact them at 410-222-8900 and keep watch over the animal until a recovery team arrives, for the safety of the snake and any other animals.

According to National Geographic, boas can swim but prefer dry land, and typically prey on small animals by suffocating them. The snakes are not venomous, but residents who locate the snake should not touch the animal.

Has this snake been found yet or was it a hoax?
