South River's baseball team (7-2, 4-2) beat Northeast High 3-0 thanks to late-game heroics by Jake Gratz and Austin Wright Thursday afternoon. What began as a scoreless pitching duel, the game changed when catcher Gratz drove in the go-ahead run to give the Seahawks the lead in the sixth inning. The following post was submitted by John C. Varsity Basketball South River High's girls and boys basketball teams were unable to defeat Annapolis High Friday. The boys continue to struggle to move up the county ranks while the girls experienced a brief hiccup, falling to 9-3 with a score of 42-50. Both squads have a home game and then two consecutive away games in the next week. After hosting Chesapeake High Wednesday, the Seahawks will travel to Southern High on Friday and Old Mill next Tuesday. Varsity Basketball After the boys fell to Arundel High School 48-68 last Friday, the Seahawks will host Annapolis High School a week later hoping to improve on their 3-9 record. Tip off is at 7 p.m. The ladies defeated Arundel 51-42, improving to 9-2. After facing Annapolis on Friday, the girls varsity and junior varsity teams will head to Linganore High the next day. JV plays at 11 a.m. and varsity plays at 1 p.m. Tip off for the Annapolis game is 5 p.m. Swimming South River swimming took first place in 19 of 22 events over the weekend in their third meet of the year.
