SRYA U13 Girls Soccer Claims County Championship

The young athletes followed in the footsteps of the state championship-winning varsity girls soccer team.

The following post was submitted by Michael Grigsby, and edited.

The U13 SRYA Lady Seahawks Division 1 soccer team won a share of the Anne Arundel County Championship last weekend at Northeast High.

The girls beat an undefeated and un-scored upon Mountain Road team 1-0. Hannah McGlyn struck a missile shot from outside the box with 15 minutes left in the game. At that point the Lady Seahawks went to their “Pac Man” formation and held off a tough Mountain Road squad.

Goalie Grace Drago had multiple saves in the first half to keep her clean sheet.

“This team never ceases to amaze me,” said coach Mike Grigsby.

The Lady Seahawks also were a finalist in the “Arundel Cup” this fall too.

Team members include: Megan Adair, Allison Barrett, Jennifer Barrett, Erin Canter, Isabella Carstensen, Emily Chick, Sarah Croteau, Grace Drago, Erin Grigsby, Gabby Grigsby, Myranda Johnson, Mackenzie Kaderabek, Baillee Lambert, Carly Mansur, Audrey McGlyn, Hannah McGlyn, Samm Moreland.

Tournament appearances: Princess Talbot and Kelsie McGlyn. Coaches: Mike Grigsby, Ray McGlyn, Pat Barrett, Jakob Carstensen.
