Where to Find Dry Ice

Patch offers a list of stores selling dry ice and tips for using the product.

When residents are out of power, many turn to dry ice to help keep their refrigerators cold.

Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) said Saturday morning that some residents can expect to be out of power for as long as a week following Friday night's storms.

Here's contact info for a few area stores that reportedly offer dry ice. Please call ahead to check availability.

Airgas East, 410-768-4447
Located at 7504 Connelly Dr., Hanover, MD 21076.

Continental Carbonic, 410-761-7701
Located at 150 Penrod Ct., Suite J, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.

Some hardware stores may also offer dry ice. Be sure to call ahead.

Baltimore-based AAA Ice's website offers some tips on how to handle and use dry ice. Always use gloves and keep in mind its shelf life—only 24 to 36 hours. Be sure to keep it away from kids and pets.

Patch Associate Regional Editor Susan Jenkins contributed to this report.

We know some local people with a few thousand pounds of dry ice that they are selling, if anyone still needs some. They may even be willing to deliver.
