1. Stan and Joe’s Celebrates Six Years of Success
Stan Fletcher and Joe McGovern say the keys to their success with Stan and Joe’s Saloon is a positive energy, good food and a local crowd. Fletcher and McGovern opened Stan and Joe’s on West Street in Annapolis six years ago on Jan. 30 and expanded to Edgewater two years ago April 1. In honor of the saloon’s recent anniversary, the pair is hosting a celebration on Sunday.
2. Shady Side Students Raise Funds for the Bay
A group of fifth-graders at Shady Side Elementary School is working hard to ensure the Chesapeake Bay gets the restoration it needs. Not only are the students participating in a project where they raise oysters to help save the bay, but one Shady Side class has taken the project even further by starting a fundraising endeavor.
3. County Exec Candidates Pitch to the Public
Five Republicans seeking to be the next Anne Arundel county executive spoke before a packed house in Odenton Thursday, with the county council just days away from voting to appoint a successor to John Leopold.
4. Davidsonville Pup Competes in Westminster Dog Show
Davidsonville local Blanket Rocketship, a Bernese Mountain dog, competed in the 2013 Wesminster Dog Show on Monday and Tuesday in the working dog group.
5. Elizabeth Carr Memorial Fund Raises $9,170 for Hopkins
The Elizabeth Carr Memorial Fund (ECMF) raised more than $9,000 for the Johns Hopkins Children's Center at an art show on Sunday at the Severna Park Community Center.
