SUV Crashes Into Edgewater IHOP

Eyewitnesses told Patch it sounded like a bomb had gone off inside the restaurant.

Police and firefighters assessed the damage.

A grey Mercedes SUV crashed into the Edgewater IHOP on Saturday morning, cracking a brick facade and damaging the interior of the restaurant.

Eyewitnesses and patrons inside the restaurant told Patch they heard an explosion-like noise and then looked to see that a car had driven into the wall facing the Giant. Firefighters, police and a building inspector were on the scene assessing the damage. Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials on the scene were unavailable for comment. 

Those eating inside the IHOP told Patch they saw one man receive medical treatment following the incident, but no official word had been given regarding the nature of his injuries.
