Special Session To Deal with Budget, Taxes
Work will focus on balancing budget and eliminating $500 million in "doomsday" cuts.
Gov. Martin O'Malley Friday announced he will call state legislators back into session May 14 to deal with lingering state budget issues.
“There is too much at stake not to move forward,” O’Malley said in a statement Friday afternoon. “I’m confident that we can come together with the Senate President and House Speaker to complete this most important work for the people of our State.”
The session will focus on balancing the state budget and eliminating more than $500 million in cuts that were part of a so-called "doomsday budget" that passed at the end of this year's 90-day legislative session.
As part of that session, some legislators expect the General Assembly will be asked to approve an income tax increase for some Maryland residents. Shifting of teacher pensions from the state to the local jurisdictions may also be on the table and could largely impact the county's fiscal year 2013 budget currently being considered by the Anne Arundel County Council.
O'Malley promised details on the session in a joint news conference with House Speaker Michael Busch and Senate President Thomas V. "Mike" Miller. The news conference is expected to take place some time next week.

They are calling a special session to increase the tax rate on the American people in Maryland. The illogical seat warmers do not get it as well as the sheep that follow them! With a missed chanch of industry in Western Maryland to bring energy jobs; providing revenue to the state! Cobined with increased taxes on industry that promotes more citizens on the state wellfair machine. Only concludes one out come that cannot be avoided. Total failure from the halls of Annapolis.

The one thing I take from all of this is that the Unholy Three (Martin, Mike and Mike) do not read comments on the Patch or other Maryland News sites. The probably don't read letters from constituents either.

The state budget has been increased and so it is time to live within the budget. Taxes are already too high. Stop the waste and collect from the freeloaders and deadbeats.

Does the author understand how idiotic this sentence sounds???

So they want to balance the budget....and the first thing they're going to do to reach that goal...is to make balancing the budget $500 million harder. I'm not sure they understand it, but you cannot balance a budget by deciding to spend $500 million more than you planned.
These idiots are going to turn Maryland into a larger version of Baltimore City.
