Several fire engines and police cars cruised down Solomon’s Island Road with their lights on Wednesday afternoon as part of a memorial service to remember Kentland Volunteer Fire Company’s (KVFD) former Fire Chief Harry “Buck” Davis.

One of trucks, a fire engine, had the number 33 on the side with black drapes hanging from its side. The engine is the from the No. 33 fire station of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Company. 

The volunteer department is comprised of two of the 47 volunteer stations throughout Prince George’s County, and after losing its former fire chief, firefighters attended a funeral and burial service Wednesday at Edgewater’s Kalas Funeral Home.

According to the KVFD website, Davis died Feb. 17 “after a long battle with his health.”

Davis served in the community and the KVFD for approximately 50 years, according to the site. “He was truly an inspiration to the fire service and will be sorely missed,” as written on the KVFD website.
