PHOTOS: Edgewater Elementary Parent Shares Mold Pictures
Gary Fritter, a local parent, shares his photos with Patch after visiting the school Monday to inspect his concerns about the schools environmental safety.

Ever since Meghan Firtter began attending Edgewater Elementary last fall, her father, Gary, said she has suffered respiratory issues.
"She's had migraines, sniffles and several respiratory infections," Fritter said.
After visiting the school Monday to inspect concerns about its environmental safety, Fritter snapped several photos of what he called "serious issues." The local dad and government consultant said he found mold near a ventilation unit and checked out the infamous crawl space.
Fritter said the most disturbing thing he discovered was a broken drainpipe from the school's roof that dumps metric tons of water into an open pit.

These pictures clearly show that this pipe (from the roof) was not connected to the drainage system. The rain runoff from the roof was draining directly into the ground and setting under that side of the school. That's a lot of water, times a lot of years! Standing water under the kindergarden classrooms and first grade classrooms..how nice.
I am certainly not pointing fingers. I nor my PTA are looking to blame anyone for the schools condition. We aren't interested that line of reteric. We are merely focused on getting our Feasability Study funded and conducted in 2013 and funding available right away for a new school. The School Board has allowed our voices to be heard at school board meetings, many of their operations and building management folks have attended meetings to gather information. I believe their hands are tied with regard to getting us what we really need. This isn't just for our children...our EES teachers and staff are going through this with them everday. God Bless them. Our PTA has a wondeful leader and the parents of EES will not let this rest. So, let our voices be heard, let our prescence be felt - we shall prevaile.
