Mustache Fun

Add some fun to home entertainment by decorating your glassware.

Mustaches seem to be enjoying a bit of a revival (Brad Pitt, James Franco, Jason Giambini, the Yankees' firstbaseman to name a few). Even in housewares, the 'stache seems to be the "in" motif, see exhibit A here.

We have come up with an easy, inexpensive way to make your your own glassware or mustache masks—sure to make great conversation and photos at your next gathering.

You will need:

  • Glassware, including wine glasses or coffee mugs—available for $1 each at Dollar Tree in Edgewater)
  • Mustache Vinyl Rub-Ons or stencils. Those demonstrated here were purchased online for $6 at eaddesigns.com. In addition, you could use a "Cricut" machine to print out stencils, or use black paint to paint them on.
  • Craft sticks (also available at Dollar Tree)
  • Cardstock (available at KMart)
  • Scissors
  • Glue

For the glassware, first make sure that it is clean and dry. Then, you simply want to center the mustache on the glass and apply the rub-on or stencil. What you want to create is the illusion that the person drinking from the glass is actually wearing the mustache, so you may want to use a mirror to help with placement.

For the mustache masks, apply the rub ons or stencils to some cardstock and then cut them out. Glue to the tip of the craft sticks and allow to dry.

This really is so simple and makes a great little gift to send home with your guests too.

You could use this idea on coffee mugs and fill them with candy as thank you gifts that are trendy and fun.

Make sure to have your cameras ready and have fun.

And with any leftover mustache stencils, let your children decorate their pencils for school.
