IHOP Quietly Opens to 'Work Out the Kinks'

The IHOP in Edgewater opened Tuesday morning, but hasn't been advertising much as the business slowly "works out the kinks."

Edgewater's newest breakfast option opened its doors quietly Tuesday morning without any formal declaration to the public.

The new IHOP, located off Solomons Island Road in the Lee Airpark shopping center, is open and ready for business, but isn't advertising that fact in order to slowly "work out the kinks" before the place gets too busy.

A greeter at the IHOP told Patch the business is open Sunday-Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

The "quiet opening" will help the staff address any operational problems that accompany opening a new location, the IHOP greeter said. IHOP will soon have miniature menus that include its dishes and phone number so the community can become better acquainted with the breakfast chain, she said.

Local resident Lenny Archambeault visited the IHOP Tuesday and said there were about 50 other people inside when he sat down.

It appeared the slow opening was a good idea, as Archambeault said the server got his order wrong the first time around. However, the food was very good, he said.

Patch called Venture Construction Co., the IHOP building's developers, to learn when they might host a grand opening, but a project manager was unavailable.

Will you be heading over to IHOP now that it's open? Tell me in the comments.

Welcome I Hop to our Edgewater Community. Thank you for providing an eatery establishment and for providing "jobs." My Family and I will surely be in to try those delicious pancakes, etc. Think we will wait until the rush of patrons dashing in to try your new establishment. It looks quaint from the outside, looking forward to seeing and dining in the inside.

Welcome! Our family had "breakfast" dinner after our back to school night on the day of your quiet opening. Everyone was pleasant, attentive, and more than eager to serve our community. Best wishes!

Four of us went to dinner last night at our new Ihop. Beautiful inside, food was great, we had a very nice, polite, helpful waitress named Meagan. Welcome to the neighborhood Ihop!

Finally an alternative to Friendly's. I have been going to IHop since my teenage years in Jersey. Love it, especially the coffee!

Ate at this restaurant about ten times. Can't poach an egg or serve all the items in order at the same time. Seven out the ten, eggs were served without pancakes or eggs came but not the meat. Once or twice my order was served but not my husbands or visa versa. Speaking with the manager had no lasting effect. We've decided not to eat there.
