'Giant Parking Lot Slime Gully' Gets Filled
I personally liked the small waterway near Panera on Route 2, but it appears the mini river will soon be gone.
Workers renovated the "miniature river" near the Panera and Giant on Maryland Route 2 Tuesday, filling it with small pebbles and rocks.
Described by one commenter of Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch's Facebook page as the "Giant parking lot slime gully," the ditch/river/gully is now full of small pebbles.
Patch reported in July 2011 that the drainage ditch, running the length of the parking lot, was an environmentally friendly design put in place to prevent stormwater runoff. Last summer, a severe flood completely submerged the entire ditch.
I personally thought the flowing little waterway was a unique touch to the shopping center. It wasn't Venice, but it was nice to see its waters moving smoothly during the warmer days of winter.
The renovation effort wasn't completely finished Tuesday, but it sure looks like it'll be done in the next day or so.
What do you think of the mini rock quarry? Did you like the "river?"

My guess is they were correcting the fact that it wasn't built properly from the outset. Below the rock, I suspect, is a soil mix designed to infiltrate stormwater. It's been planted with river birch, which like wet feet, and covered with stone, to allow infiltration and provide a little aesthetic improvement. It's going to look very similar to the median strips at Main Street at South River Colony when it's all said and done.

I understand the same person who originally designed 'The Moat' is the one in charge of the 'Muddy Creek Road Debacle'.

I travel the entire length of Muddy Creek Rd. every weekday evening. The only consistent debacle that I see iare the southbound drivers who are too ignorant to dim their high-beams when approaching opposing traffic and the northbound drivers who regularly drive 10-20 MPH below the speed limit. So "R," you're saying that the designer of the two situations is a local Driver's Ed teacher?
