Every summer 7-Eleven stores nationwide celebrate the company's birthday by giving away free Slurpees on July 11, and this year is no exception.
“7-Eleven Day, or free Slurpee Day, gets bigger and more popular every year,” Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven's president and CEO, said in a press release. “This year we expect to give away 7 million Slurpee drinks, more than ever before, beating last year’s offer by 2 million."
According to the release, July 11 the convenience store retailer's 85th birthday, and it's the 45th birthday for its iconic Slurpee drinks.
"But the day is also when we do something special to thank customers for their support and welcome new guests,” DePinto said.
The Edgewater 7-Eleven locations is participating. They are located at 3080 Solomons Island Rd. But don't rush too early, the free Slurpee special doesn't start until 11 a.m. Wednesday, and ends at 7 p.m.
What flavor Slurpee will you be gulping down for free? This editor is partial to, wait for it... banana and Coca-Cola.

There is no 7-Eleven on Solomons Island Road in Edgewater, it closed a long time ago. That building is now a bike store, and I don't think they will be giving out free Slurpees!

The 7-11 is now in the Exxtra Mart gas station, kittycorner from the Shell Station at the intersection of Route 2 and Mayo Road.

Vicky is right. There new address is technically 3080 Solomons Island Road. I spoke with the manager there this morning.

They prob mean the 7-11 that is joined with extra on solomons island road at lee airport!
