Patch stopped by South River High School and spoke with senior Austin Alley, 17, about his wrestling career and life at SRHS.
Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: What is your favorite South River wrestling memory?
Austin Alley: Riding the bus down to Stephen Decatur on the Eastern Shore, it was just a lot of fun and we were messing around. We also got to stop at Wawa on the way and get food, which was cool.
Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: How is your season going so far and what are your expectations heading into the postseason?
Alley: We’re doing pretty well right now. We’re undefeated in the county. We have regions on Wednesday and hopefully states if we win regions. Team-wise, I think we can go pretty far in the state and the goal is to win states. And for me, I want to win a state championship as a team as well individually.
Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: What other groups or activities do you participate in at South River High School?
Alley: I played soccer.
Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: What was your favorite class at South River and why?
Alley: AP World—I just thought it was very interesting. I liked the philosophies they talked about.
Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch:What are your plans after high school?
Alley: Attend a four-year college but I don’t know where I am going yet.
