Five Questions with SRHS Athlete Kali Dawson

Kali Dawson is a sophomore on the South River High track team.

Patch stopped by the South River High School and spoke with sophomore Kali Dawson, 15, about her track career and life at SRHS.

Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: What is your favorite South River track memory?
Kali Dawson: Breaking the school record for high jump. It didn’t really sink until the next day and I couldn’t believe it.

Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: How is your season going so far and what are your expectations heading into the postseason?
Dawson: The season is going really well and almost couldn’t go better. We expect to go to states for all of our events—all of mine at least—and hopefully win at least one of them.

Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: What other groups or activities do you participate in at South River High School?
Dawson: I do outdoor track and I also ride horses at Tag Along Farm. I am also in Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: What was your favorite class at South River and why?
Dawson: Probably AVID—Advance Individual Determination—it’s a class to help you through school and keep your grades up.

Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: What athlete would you say you idolize and why?
Dawson: Karie Holian, she graduated last year. She is just an amazing athlete and person and taught me everything I needed to know about high jump to start.

I AM IMPRESSED...Kali looks up to my granddaughter, Karie Holian. That's sweet. Karie is special to me, too. Thanks, Kali
